The top six teams have qualified for the Super Sixes - Titans,
Khiladis, Smashers, Gorgeous, Aces and the Devils. A few surprises though has been the ouster of the Scorpions and the
Nawabs - two highly ranked teams but beaten by the unusual turn of events. Rumor is that some of the top performers in the championship were celebrating their wins at the "
Bichde Bhai Mil Gaye" party which carried on till the wee hours of the morning. No wonder that on the day of their matches they were unusually labored and lethargic in the game play.
There were also many attempts made to fix some of the matches between the S******** and T******, and the N***** and D*****. Many rounds of discussions happened, promises of parties, prize money and various other favors were exchanged, not sure how it worked out though, cause
in spite of it all they still lost their berths into the Super Sixes.
The first super six match between the Titans and the
Khiladis, probably the two finalists was quite a shocker. The Titans beating the
Khiladi's 2-0. And then going on to win their next Super Six encounter with the Devils 2-0 as well. The Titans Harry and
Santosh have been the most consistently performing
jodi, undoubtedly qualifying as the Jodi No.1 of
GPL. Both being left
handers, they combine
exquisitely like perfect Salsa dancers. They are through to the Semi Finals already.
The most
hilarious moment of the day was one of the
Nawabs falling flat on his b**. Roars of peeling laughter continued till the end of the match. Guess that was a telling moment, cause after that mighty fall the
Nawabs failed to rise and lost the match 1-3 to the
Khiladis and continued their losing spree with a 2-3 loss to the Devils 2-3.
The big Giant Killer of the tournament goes to Rupa, she teamed up with the Tigers to upset the Aces yesterday and then combined with the Devils to help beat the Nawabs today. Is it her luck, is it her charming smile, is it her slender arms or is it just sheer surprise at seeing her play so well that has knocked good teams over.
The match between the Smashers and Scopions was great fun to watch. Kanchan was as her usual self swearing, screaming and smashing at everything. Just before the start of the match DJ Milind decided to make a quick visit to the loo, don't know what happened there but he came back with renewed energy and helped smash the Scorpions 3-0.
